The goal of Biogrowi
32 years ago, I, Esmeralda, started Biogrowi as a passionate gardener. At that time, chemical pesticide use was widespread, and organic gardening products were hardly available. Few people questioned whether this was harmful to the environment or the soil. "No harvest without poison" was the common belief.
This reflects the spirit of the time when I founded Biogrowi. I saw how insects and plants suffered from chemicals and I felt called to counteract this. My love for nature, my passion for gardening, and my entrepreneurial spirit led me to this.
With Biogrowi, I wanted to show that gardening without poison was possible. In my company, I offered ecological alternatives to solve common gardening problems. Over the years, I noticed that beneficial insects and nematodes worked even better than pesticides. It was simply a matter of convincing people of this. And we still do this with our team. Many have found their way to our company, for which we are sincerely grateful! And we believe you are ready for the next step...
Expanding our mission
We've since made a lot of progress in our society. We now value biodiversity and sustainability much more than we used to. Climate change and the nitrogen problem have awakened us. We recognize the crucial importance of soil, and there are researchers working on this much more than before. Being confronted with major pests has made us realize that biodiversity is vital.
This changed spirit of the times gives our company the space to broaden our philosophy and work towards a higher goal. Working without poison still requires attention, but it’s just one part of the whole.
That's why Biogrowi will soon become ROOTSUM! “We continue TO ROOT for nature,” but we are shifting ouf focus to restoring biodiversity. Everything in nature is interconnected, and your garden is part of that. When we humans intervene in our garden or nature, it has small or large consequences for the whole! Do you want to help nature and biodiversity progress? Then ROOT along with us!
Along with our expanded mission and new name, our websites and packaging are getting a fresh look and feel. But rest assured that our products, service, and knowledge sharing remain as you already know them. The only thing that will change is that we will offer you even more tools than before to turn your garden into a biodiverse nature refuge.
