250 Solitary Bee Hotels

At Rootsum, we want to work with you towards a world full of biodiversity. With this project, we aim to distribute 250 solitary bee hotels across gardens and balconies. The only thing you need to do is hang up this bee hotel and ensure there are blooming plants nearby. Solitary bees only fly short distances in search of food, so the type of bees you attract will depend on the plant variety in your surroundings

Solitary bees are a crucial part of our ecosystem. Due to the disappearance of many wild plants and nesting sites, solitary bees have been struggling. We want to do something about that together with you!

With this project, we are giving away 250 bee hotels. It is a simple, self-developed bee hotel that you can recreate later. These hotels will collectively provide homes for 62,000 new bees! Solitary bees help with more pollination, more flowers, and more nature.

1. Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on this 1% project. Once the allocated budget has been reached, you’ll receive an email inviting you to apply for a bee hotel.
2. Random selection: Once the project amount of €6,000 is reached, we will randomly select 250 winners from the registrations.

3. Bee hotel production and shipping: The hotels are specially designed and carefully made by Zorggroep Sint-Kamillus, an organization that supports people with vulnerable backgrounds.

   Shipping: The bee hotels will be sent to gardens and balconies in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany after selection.

The total project amount is €6,000:

• €1,000 for the design of the hotels
• €3,000 for materials and production
• €2,000 for shipping
